Event Description
Outback Presents is proud to announce that Maria Bamford, one of the most innovative and critically acclaimed comedians of her generation, is bringing her live stand-up comedy to Victoria for one night only on October 16, 2026, at the McPherson Playhouse.
Revered for her personal, experimental, and fearless comedy, Maria Bamford has built a singular career by transforming conversations around mental health into powerful, hilarious, and profoundly human performances. Her work has earned widespread critical acclaim for its originality, vulnerability, and emotional intelligence—cementing her status as one of the most important voices in modern comedy. As a trailblazer in the stand-up world, Maria was the first female comic to record two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials and starred alongside Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, and Brian Posehn in the influential stand-up collective The Comedians of Comedy. She also created and starred in the cult-hit web series The Maria Bamford Show, famously playing every character herself.
In addition to her stand-up work, Maria is one of the most prolific and recognizable voices in animation, with credits including Big Mouth, Human Resources, Bob’s Burgers, BoJack Horseman, Adventure Time, Teenage Euthanasia, Santa, Inc., HouseBroken, and PBS’s Emmy-winning WordGirl, among many others. On-screen, she appeared as DeBrie Bardeaux on Netflix’s Arrested Development and has held recurring roles on Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, Flatbush Misdemeanors, and Fresh Off the Boat. Her late-night appearances include The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Late Night with Seth Meyers, CONAN, The Tonight Show, and The Late Late Show with James Corden. She is also the creator of the interview series What’s Your Ailment? which explores mental health through candid celebrity conversations, and the Audible Original You Are (A Comedy) Special, a semi-mock guide to stand-up—and life.
